So, like most of us here on GTT, I drug home an old Bolens 1250 with FEL last weekend. I got it from a friend who got it from a neighbor so the history isn't a complete mystery. It's believed to run and drive ok.....although the hydro pump on the FEL came off and the output hose got ripped out of the pump. I'm just starting to check it out now and will be posting pics for those of us who are visually stimulated.

I'm guessing it's a 1968 but not 100% certain.

Hello Welcome to GTT

The large frame guys will be along to tell you more info about your machine, the hood has either been replaced or someone bought replacement decals for it in the 80's  as thats not what they originally came with.

If you need parts help let me know, have lots instock , there's also a couple others here that deal in Bolens parts as well

Welcome to GTT. Congratulations on a great tractor with the most sought after attachment. There are several good manuals for the 1250 in our Manuals Section. You can get 3 free downloads per day. We are here to help. Ask questions but use pics to better discribe the conditions. Good Luck, Rick

There is a weak little spark. Better than none at all. Points barely open. I'll gap it tomorrow.

Spark plug, an Autolite 386, is super fouled. Looks like it's been running with the choke on. Then there's this whole governor / bad coil wire thing going on here. Shouldn't be too hard to straighten out....

As B1k correctly pointed out I was told that the hood was replaced at some point. The fenders are quite tarnished and the original hood might have been worse. The replacement hood is workable. Once I get the mechanics functioning properly I hope to address the cosmetic situation.....

Looks like the breaker points are pretty dirty, I would clean them up and inspect for pitting/wear and if they are in bad shape replace them. Wisconsin parts are readily available for this engine.

I think all thats wrong on the gov. is your cable wire is disconnected, get it back on and that should tighten up your linkage.

I saw the title of this thread in the "recent" titles at the right of the forums page and thought you were talking about a white and yellow machine, with a red and white "IH" in the grille...

There are several good manuals for the 1250 in our Manuals Section. You can get 3 free downloads per day.

A little clarification on downloads from the Manuals section. As a new member on GTT you are limited to 3 downloads per day. As your post count increases, there will come a time that restriction disappears.

Yeah, the wires really bother me! Should be a simple fix.
