The idle needle is bent and the points have no air gap.

Sounds like some good advice, and all fairly easy to do. So now it's my turn to poop on your parade. Check the ISO mounts if you haven't already as well as the rag joint. Cause "if" the mounts are bad, which most times they are, so is the rag joint from the engine hopping around...
But who knows, yyou may be the lucky one...
Remember when you change the filter to get a hydraulic filter, not an oil filter. Not getting into the HyTran debate. I use only HYTran, always have and always will.
I use CarQuest filters, 85410 or
NAPA FIL1410
Cub Cadet 923-3014 723-3014

I brought home a Quietline one time...ISO mounts worn soo bad that the air breather wing nut stem worn a hole in the engine side cover. The exhaust duct sheet metal took a beating and the driveline to include the drive shaft clevis at the pump. It was a 1250 CC and 12 yrs later I have it to this day.

That's a NICE 1250 there BNK.  Maybe I'm just crazy but I think that the quietlines are the prettiest Cub Cadet that IH ever made.  I have been a fan of them since I was young.  I had a 1450 ten years ago and got rid of it.  In hindsight I wish I would have kept it and I hope to have another one someday.

I only use IH/Case hydraulic/trans fluid in my '51 Cub, same for my Cub Cadet 106.  Very competitive price at True Value Hardware: @$18.99 for 2 gallons and you can get it in-store or online!

Check it out:

We ended up make a gasket so far no leaking. The choke cable is messed up and keeps going back into choke.

Got the mule drive ordered. This weekend we are rewiring since there is a lot of wire piece together.
