Automatic updating has been shut off on my machine for months.  I would rather trudge along with what I have than to submit to Windows 10 and it's automatic spyware that tracks and reports your every keystroke..  I will kick and scratch every step of the way before I take this shyt from them.  They can keep it and I never wanted it in the first place.  It may be time for a new OS..  Time will tell..

You might be purchasing a Mac sooner than you expect...  Or learn Linux for free.

Linux Mint is not that bad. I just need to get a good drawing program and figure out how to upload photos to it.

It took me two weeks to figure them out.  My problem was I tried to do things on a Mac the same way as a PC and that is not the case.  Similar enough to confuse some and different enough to frustrate some.  It took my wife 2 months to adapt but now she curses Windows whenever it is necessary to use it.

I have W7 and just getting used to it good after having it for 6 months.  Main problem I have with W7 is most of my software is not compatible with it.  The replacement software is NOT user friendly in any way shape or form.  Thanks Microsoft.

[1]  So, can Linux Mint be installed on a machine with W7 without conflicts? I am sure I have HD space and RAM  for it.

[2]  I know it would take me months to learn Linux.  So what about the software I already have for W7?  Will it work with Linux or does it require all new software again.?

Not into Xbox, Smart Phones and all that malarkey. Just basic internet and some software use like word processing, data bases etc.

Haven't really liked windows for years.  Have xp , vista and 7 on the computers here. When they force an upgrade on me the internet plug gets pulled, My Android smart phone will take it's place.

The only real reason I still have windows is for my accounting package and I can use that without an internet connection..
