Finally an acceptable use for a 1" ratchet strap.  Along with good old Gorilla brand duct tape it will hold forever.

layer one: ratchet straps
layer two: gorilla glue
layer three: good duct tape.

should hold until the landlord volunteers he has the extra scratch to fix it...
