I have a good running 18 HP B&S Opposed Twin that I'd like to find a "home" for. Does anyone know of what garden tractor applications one of these bad boys would work for? I know it could be adapted to anything with enough time and money but what might it just drop in or what models came from the factory with one of these?

Is it vertical or horizontal shaft?

Oops, I should have known better. It is a horizontal shaft.

If it's a Vanguard it will repower about any shaft drive tractor, BUT anything with side covers will have to leave them off, also anything with a front PTO may be custom conversion. They will run, but to get them to mow, till, etc may take a little work

I wish it was a Vanguard. They're pretty good engines and I know they'll take a beating. It's just a plain old I.C. flathead twin.

I think I'd like to hang on to it for now and find a tractor to stuff it in. I will remember you if I do have a change of heart. Thanks.

Craftsman used those engines and my Yardman 16 had the 16HP version of that engine and I replaced it with a 18HP from a Craftsman. The big problem with those engines it appears to be is the valve seats come loose.
