From a collector to a hoarder in one stop. How convenient.

Is the only difference between the 1650 and 1655 the Kohler vs Onan twin?

I think they have different transmissions, steering, hoods and tires and probably other things. The 50 has belt drive deck and the 55 has a gearbox The 50  is direct drive and and the 55 has belts running from engine to drive shaft.

Similar Masseys are quite different. I once bought 1650 and a parts 1655 and was gonna use parts of 55 to the other. Axle was heavier, hood ended up too big, front pto was not able to hook up. The whole rig was just beefier. I even found the hydraulics linkages and hoses diff. I DID use the valve and levers off 55 on the 50 and one metal line. Tires/wheels also bigger. Frames were diff in front and couldn't switch axles easily, not bolt up, would have to cut frames and swap metal, I passed.

Those decks must be timed?  No offset to them?  I never had deck on mine, first I've paid attention. Cog belt then?  I've got the money and not too far away, but can't get them, you know why! :smilewink:

oh, go on and get them.  You can't pass up a good deal like that.  It just pushes back the timing of the 'inevitable', not eliminate it altogether!
