Me and the wife just got a good laugh out of this, wasn't more than 6 months ago she tried to talk me into buying an old church on the other side of town.  really nice building on a good lot in a good neighborhood that would have made a great house, I just couldn't justify buying another house or property just to do it.  our house is ok and I don't want to move !!!  Good luck with it and do your research

Sounds like olds is not going to have to worry about a wife for much longer.lol. and if you are married what drug do you give her cause this sounds like the words of a man who is confused about what happens when their fathers hand you that dowry. Good luck and grab your flak jacket, you are in for a war bud!

Another point I didnt see brought up is the fact that many churches that closed... We're not up to many codes when they did.
Wiring, water (fire sprinklers), structural, ADA (ramps aren't cheap), that list would be LOOOOOOONG.
You could quickly have more than what you paid for the whole place in just bringing the old building up to snuff.

You might get around a little of that if it were a historic building, but once on the registrar... You can't do anything to it without asking permission.

I'm not arguing with my wife about it. I thought maybe I could convince her without a huge deal.

There is no zoning in my county. So the property would be free to do with as a please. But oh well. I had some other plans I thought about
