I'm looking for a 6hp Briggs vertical shaft for my allis b206. It's a 70s motor but any 6hp Briggs with a one once shaft diameter would maybe work. Am willing to pay for shipping.

thats about a 1968 motor. hard to find them sometimes as a lot of tractors used the 140xxx series aluminum engines.

I would think the best solution, would be a new shortblock. You can just swap over your carb, starter, flywheel etc. to a brand new engine and for less than rebuilding or replacing with a different model. I did some checking and luckily I located an older 1980's set of microfiche in my "archives" which contained the service short block replacement guide.  A direct replacement would be a B & S part  # 299780 short block.  It appears that at some point they superceded that up to an 8hp short-block 397816 but then you would have to get an 8hp cylinder head to match it as the 6hp is different. While that shortblock is NLA, you can add 299780 to your ebay saved searches and they will email you whenever one is listed.

6-7-8hp Briggs all use the same block. No worries
