The bigger Gibson tractors are rare but I personally don't think they have anywhere near that king of value. One source on them says probably around or less than 500 of the big one's built. So quite rare, but I still wouldn't pay $7500 for a pile of parts; no doubt everything is seized and it will be a 100% every bolt off restoration of a rare tractor with hard to find parts. Looks like it would take deep pockets to both buy and restore.

'Member that Supertramp song for the '70's?

Sing it with me:

Dreeeeamer!

You're nothin' but a dreeeeamer

and when you price your tractor

we -- all -- laugh.

I could not find any listing of number built for any model. Gibsons were made in Longmont ,Co.
I think one would have to be real dedicated to restore those, I like old tractors but would not go over salvage scrap price. The two largest were 22 and 40 hp Hercules powered.
That was a good engine. My first experience was a BF Avery model A powered with a Hercules. When we moved to the 5 acres on the north edge of Newton, the previous owner let it go with the place.

I know where a couple of relics that look like they are trying to convert back to nature are, can I become rich selling them also? If this is how this works nowadays I will plant all my tractors in the weeds for thirty years and poof my retirement plan has come to fruition!

If you could buy it for 75,00, I'll double your money. I think the engine has to be a 6 cyl to be an I and I can't tell if that one on the ground is 6 or 4. Seems there was a nicely restored I sold a few years back in the 10-12,000 range. They are few and far between but I think 7500 is a little much for this project. I wonder what the steel wheeler is in the background of one of the pictures.

A Gibson I is a fairly big tractor. A 6 cylinder Hercules engine and 38" rubber on the back.  About the size of a Farmall M.  I think his price is a little bit high but they ain't making anymore of them and you'd be hard pressed to find another one for sale AT ALL!  I tell you I have wanted one of those for a long time and if I had the spare coin for it I would give him half his price or a tad more in a heartbeat for it.

I'd gladly give him that for an I. How many does he have? I may buy more than one!

I'm pretty sure I know this particular fellow who is being referred to.  He's a friend of mine, actually.  He sells model D Gibsons in the $1200-$1500 range on a regular basis, not a model I, I'm afraid.  He just found a model I a few weeks back. Now he has all of the models, including the I, H, E, Super D2, Super D, SD, D and A.  These particular model I's listed in this ad have been for sale for awhile, if I remember correctly.
