So who and what do we believe on this one?  Automakers knew about Ethanol over 10 years ago.  The R&D departments should have spent more time at work and less time playing golf.

I suppose I did just pull the forum equivalent of farting in church.

Sorry, but this stuff gets under my skin a little.

Post number 3 is now hidden for the ages.

Just today while driving home from work I was thinking about ethanol and our small (old) engines and how they HATE ethanol.

I wish we could ban this crap, but as stated in the article, it is very political both pro & con.

I'm going to tell you how I really feel......I HATE ETHANOL AT ANY PERCENTAGE IN MY GASOLINE!

DANG  ,,,,,, I missed it..... ! That being said, ethanol is bad for small engines.  I use the " Rec 90 " fuel here that is ethanol free. Since then , about 3 years ago I haven't had to replace any of my fuel lines or plastic fuel shut offs. I don't like it either and depending on what you read, may also have a negative impact on the environment. I've read the ethanol plants do use a lot of water. Now I don't mind a little ethanol, in a barley soda once in a while  :smilewink:.

I have yet to find a small engine technician that thinks ethanol is a good thing. I won't put the stuff in any of my small engines.

Had an Ethanol supporter ask if I was running it my plane. Told him NO. He wanted to know why not. Told him it was not approved by the engine manufacturer AND 3000ft up was a lousy place to find out that it didn't work. Even he had to agree with that.

I don't use ethanol in any of my old engines, garden tractors, Farmall Super C, and we don't use it in our old 610Bobcat, I do use it in my truck but it doesn't stay in there long enough to do much damage.
