I found a new starter on eBay for 54 shipped to my door l I also have a purolator pro 42s electronic fuel pump that is rated 1.5-4 psi its new that my grandfather gave me so I think that it'll work perfect it has a built in piece so no more back drain out of the carb.

Same pump as one some of mine now. That's a dirt low price on that starter! No matter if fuel drains back, 2 seconds with key on & pump fills the carb.
That's why I love electric pumps.

Do you know about how long it takes to chafe the starter on the 1655 . I know you got to pretty much remove the engine

How did you hook up your pump, to the key switch.

Yes, same terminal as the ignition. Takes a few hours to change the starter out, less if familiar to doing it, more if you're not. Decent size job.
