Watched the NE/IA game today.  I don't know how many times I saw defensive players try to tackle a back around the shoulders and get carried or drug for another 3 - 5 or more yds.  Do they think they have to try and tackle the ball ALL the time?  Mostly secondary defensive players that do this.  When the linemen tackle they stop right there cause they tackle their legs and ankles.  Other than that kind of a good game.  NE screwed up a lot, mainly Tommy Armstrong their quarterback.  Iowa is now 12 - 0 for the season and has part of the division championship .

Joey Browner started that, and was praised for his 'strong hands'. Piss poor technique, I call it.

Joey Browner? I remember the name, I thought he played the other side of the ball (reciever/tight end?)

Those are rubber cleats now, not like the steel one back when I played in High School.

Personally I think there is a time and place for it.  Like if your behind and time is short.  Or even ahead a little and the opponent is threatening to score.  Might work then to strip the ball but that only happens once in a great while.  More balls are knocked out with the helmet than the hands.  Chiefs are really hurting with the loss of their main running back.
