Bolens 1250 tiller options?
Posted April 20, 2011 - 04:05 AM
I used a buddies machine, a newer Ford, with a rear tiller on it. I'm pretty much sold on the rear tiller idea and want one for my 1250.
What are my options for a tiller?
Does it have to be for a Bolens?
How wide of a tiller can this machine power?
Will attachments from other machines work?
(If I found a tiller off say a Jacobsen or Cub Cadet would it work?)

I think the easiest thing to do would be to just get a Bolens Large Frame tiller.
which will prolly be the cheapest and easiest to find option

Every one I've run across in the past was for sale for more than I could afford.
I don't mind doing some fix up if I found one a right price.
Besides, what are the chances of finding one worth fixing after 40+ years?

Check CL and ebay, they pop up all the time

yardion, where are you located? I know of a couple in MA for sale.
I'm roughly 300 miles from MA, on the far side of NJ. Too far to just drive up and take a look.
Bolens as a whole here seem a bit scarce, at least in my immediate area. Most have never seen one here.
I've only seen a few others in use, and they were tube frames not large frame models.
I did find a tiller that was on a tube frame but it's narrow, narrower than a plain old walk behind tiller. I'd be all day tilling up a 1/4 or 1/2 acre plot.
