Did a train ride across Canada 40 years ago when a flight was not available..New Years eve on train fell asleep with head up against window...woke up with my hair frozen to window..I mean like ice 1/2 thick! ..other than that its a decent way to travel depending on your companions.

One of the trips I want to take when my kids are grown is to fly to Seattle take a cruise ship to Alaska and ride a train all the way back east. I think there is a line that runs from Alaska to Chicago. I'd have to fly again to get home but that's OK.

Maybe a presidential campaign train would make it more interesting, Trump as engineer, well cause he owns the train, Sanders as conductor cause he looks the part all aboard, Carson can be the porter, Huckabee can be the train chaplain Hillary and Rubio can argue who's turn it is to blow the whistle Kasich, Fiorina and Paul get to ride in the caboose according their poll numbers Christie also, but he refuses to leave the dinning car. Jeb well, I think he's just going along for the ride then pick up the media and watch the derailment. Now not so boring after all right ? or is that left

Sounds like you picked the wrong place for your garden.  Picking stones out of the garden is like pick s _ _ _ with the chickens.  Don't do either one.  But I will be watching that program.

My GF had to make a trip to Mississippi,  flew down from Kansas City.  Took Amtrak back by way to Washington DC then back through
Chicago and to Creston near home.  Ran up the Northern part of the Great Smokey Mountains during daylight for the most part.  She said that was the only way to travel any distance.  Beautiful scenery.  I will have to enjoy mine running around on the Garden Railroad.
