Hi Guys,

I think most guys with a number of tractors probably don't run them all very much; sometimes just a couple times a year around the yard or around a tractor show.

That being said, how often do you change your engine oil? (assuming it's full without any milky sign of moisture)

Thanks, Rob

I hear this question frequently, I would always say if used like that, once a year. I like to change the fluids every spring as that summer they will be getting used again and that way they get a good looking over. Your manuals will be more specific on oil changing intervals, some say every twenty five hours of actual use. Gearbox lubrication is also dictated in your manuals but those can usually be done at just their service intervals due to their sealed nature. Hope this helps. Eric.

My two main tractors get engine oil changed twice a year, spring and fall.  Winter use warms them up good and then they sit and get cold and that draws moisture so I change it in the spring to get them cleaned out and fresh oil for the summer work.  Fall to start them on fresh oil for plowing snow.  Last winter that was one time with the blower and twice with the front blade.  I use 10W30 year around.  Probably ever 2 or 3 years on the Hydro and gear driven as they are sealed units, like Eric mentioned.

Yeah I get confused any more. Used to change it whenever it got Black. But now with the diesel Ford, it will get black within an hour or so?
