Hi everyone,

Quick question does anyone know what transmission was used on a Compact 8E and are there any

repair manuals available for them? I would also like to know where parts are available as well.

I have a basket case 8E that was given to me and it will only go into reverse and 1 gear, trying to

decide if I want to do a restoration on this tractor. I plan to use this tractor for work mostly, it is complete

but rusty big time.

Thanks Much!

Does it have the 3speed with hi/low or just the 3 and Reverse?

Sorry about that, I should have included 3 speed with reverse, no hi/low.

Thanks,

Looks like it'd be the same tranny as all the Sears Suburbans and the Customs.  I bet there is a manual in this sites manual section.

We have the manual here, but it doesn't say what it is. I'm thinking a Peerless unit.

Thanks Kenny!

You might check out this manual and see if it matches to any there.

They are the same, but different :smilewink:

I believe housing is the same as the hi/low's but the internals maybe different. The hi/low ones are a Peerless 633A

Here is a thread from a member who tore apart a regular suburban rear, starts o page 3 I think. may give you an idea on where to start.
