You could say to your wife.."Honey, I have been thinking I need a change in my life"! "You won't allow me to have an extra marital affair, so I am going to start collecting garden tractors"!

Your tractor is very similar to the Massey Ferguson Elf. Manufactured by the same company.
Do you know the year? Some of the Gutbrods used a MAG engine. They went out of business in the 60's so parts are tough.
Hopefully, yours is powered with something else or in fine condition.

These tractors are absolute beasts. Exceed expectations.
I advise you read Will's article on his ELF.

Sorry, I'm a Deere man, but sometimes you'll find parts in the german ebay. Gutbrod is part of MTD now, but I don't know if they have parts any longer.

But here some Links to german Gutbrod collectors:

Good luck and pm me, if you need help.

Is it just me or are we getting more and more folks on here seeking therapy(Newby and hooked)? Hi! My name is Rich and I'm a tractor addict. George might find a new source of funding if he were to develop a twelve step program.

It looks like it's a1968.

And I think it is a MAG engine. I'm not sure. How can I tell?

Hey Pete. No it doesn't run. Was stored in a shed for a couple of years. I don't really know much about motor etc. all the info I can find on the web is in German. I guess I will be taking german.

Hey Pete. It looks like a MAG engine. But I'm not really sure. It's is a 450cc.

I tried starting it today. The motor turns but no spark. I replaced to spark plug but still no spark. Any idea what else could be causing this?
