the briggs and stratton 170402 on my panzer doent want to run right, I know its a carb problem. it will idle smooth but when u throttle it up. it backfires and then smokes black. also the throttle arm on the carb goes crazy it bounces and makes everything run crappy. Now if you hold the throttle arm at about 3600 rpm it runs fine. but when u let it go it acts all up. IDK wats goin on.

Is the shaft loose enough to move up and down? If so, you may need to bush that one.

You took the words right out of my mouth! May even be sucking air around the shaft. There also may be a spring missing? There should be some kind of spring or linkage that holds the throttle stable in any given position. Any other thoughts on this?
