I tend to disagree. Putting your life on the line everyday, working 20+ feet in the air (windy/rain or not), and handling thousands of volts most of which is "live" or "Hot"; should be worth something.

BTW; I read a similar article at work. The reasoning behind the free electricity is because apparently the wind blows more at night? The wind turbines are making so much power, at night, that is not being used (i.e. Wasted) They are trying to get Texans to change their mind set; this is all part of being green. Use the power when it is available; instead of generating it when it is not available.

I kinda wonder at the "If we don't use it, we waste it" thought process...
With the improvements to batteries and inverters, why not store it?
Or pumping water into towers, or heating saltwater for heat energy storage or using the energy to incinerate hazardous waste that has to be destroyed that way. There are lots of possibilities. I'm sure even lots I'd never think about.

This is a form of being green, that is genuine, unlike carbon credits, hybrid cars, and other such horse hockey.
