PTO is not working.  $450

That's not a bad price it the PTO problem is just an adjustment needed. If the PTO is bad it's a very expensive fix. Figure a shop quote of 8 hours labor plus new parts. Figure at least $600 for parts. The transmission has to come apart to fix the PTO. A good used PTO can be bought on ebay for a bit less than new.

It's not too bad to do it yourself but you need to be careful putting it back together. Make sure all the internals go where they belong. I did my 816 in about 6 hours. If you get this I can guide you.

I'd probably offer the guy $300- $350 based on the PTO issue.

It's a very stout tractor and will do a lot.

It does have the rear liftable hitch, alone a desirable option to many.  I need to get one for my 16G in the near future.  For the right price and if your able to do the PTO replacement (if it comes to that), it is a beast of a tractor. I drove my 16G at the shop today, its so much bigger than my JD 140H3.   Mike
