I have this little clinton model 501-1 and it runs like a champ, but what type of air cleaner am I missing on this. I haven't found any pics online that show me this model with this carb setup to know what to look for. Also, I know Clinton hasn't made engines for a long time, but what is parts availability like? Does anyone make gaskets, oil seals, etc? I haven't found a manual specifically for this engine either. Any thoughts or comments will help!

Thanks!

Mike

For Clinton parts your best bet is to try our fine sponsor Ben at Oldpaths equipment

You might want to look at the model number on the tag again, That engine looks like a 700 series like maybe a 700A?

As far as I ever saw the 500's where either Vertical shaft or 2 cycle engines?

Personally I love the old Clinton engines! One of the first small engines I ever used as a kid.

The air filter is an oil bath type, I don't have a picture off hand though.

Parts are a little tricky but can be found through one of our Sponsors (Old Paths Equipment). If he doesn't have them then I can usually find stuff on Ebay. There are a lot of parts that are interchangeable on those old engines also.

One thing about a Clinton engine, if you have spark and fuel it will usually run great even if it is old tired and worn out! :D

Yea it does! I thought that was the type of oil bath I needed, but I wasn't sure. Now if I can just locate one.
