Procedure for adjusting the rod between the carb throttle and the governor arm on the kohler k engines. It just snaps into place or has small e clips holding it in. It has adjustment on both ends of the rod. Rod is only about 3" long.
I was/is having trouble with my 140 John Deere. When it was set just above idle, it would rev up for a while then slow down for a while, not hunting, just would speed up if you had the throttle set at a point. So then you would have to slow the throttle down. This only happens when your just moving the tractor or hauling something. I did adjust the governor, and that fixed it, but only for a few days. If you cut grass, it works fine. No difference in engine speed, with a load. So today I adjusted the rod out one turn on both end. Thinking that maybe there was slack between the throttle and governor arm. So far it works good. Will see what tomorrow brings. Noel

Thanks for any ideas.

Use the proceedures in the Kohler Manual. A little wear will make it flakey. Good Luck, Rick

Are you sure the entire linkage (including the governor) are properly adjusted?  Any wear in the linkage?

Adjusted the govenor. I am sure the would be some wear. Since I have adjusted the rod out 1 turn on each end it seems to be working great. I took it for a longer than normal drive this morning, and it worked good. Noel
