Did the points and condenser help the idle?

Alan,

I have not started the engine yet. I still have to fix the paint issues and am also debating making a gas tank bracket from the battery box. Similar to the pictures in my operators manual for a MF 8 hp. Hopefully in next few days I can get back to working on it again.

Regards,

 Chris

Folks,

I am going to ask one more time. Anyone have a gas tank bracket that surrounds the lower part of the steel tank and attaches to the battery box? I would like to find a original but ready to fab one.

Regards,

Chris

I'm not real familiar with the MF8's but I got a few pieces from one a while back when I bought a MF12. Anyways I have this bracket, is it what you need?

I'm glad it's the right bracket. Now if only I had been paying more attention sooner I could've handed to him in person at Saegertown!!

Ok Chris, now you'll have to make a template at least. :D

I believe there should be a rubber gasket between the bracket and tank.

I believe there should be a rubber gasket between the bracket and tank.

A piece of inner tube could fix that.

Thanks guys for the tips on the gasket too.

DMAX thank you very much for this unusual Massey part!

Alan, I was thinking the same thing about having a template so that a duplicate could be made too. These just seem to be hard to find? Someone else may need one?

Off to work on this old house project with my son today.

Regards,

 Chris

I could build that. Hardest part would be the slotted holes in the mount.

I got the gas tank bracket today! Very nice of you to send this to me!

I will get some pictures as I clean it up and fit it to the MF8!
