Folks,
We had a good day on the Massey project. Good thing since I need to take it to Sagertown tractor show Wednesday!
I tackled the choke bracket first and built a bracket coming off the outer intake mainfold bolt. I will get some pictures when I find the camera!
Completed the dash mounting and installed the steering wheel.
Assembled and mounted the grill.
Friend came over and we started the engine and found that the green wire coming from the engine is the kill (to ground) wire So this wire went on the OFF post on the switch. Next we checked the pink wire from the engine and got about 15 Vac reading. I think this is what MH81 said. Connected this to the "D" terminal.
Engine started right up, shut down worked and it seemed to be charging just a little too!:)
Installed the hood and wired in the head lights.
About the only thing remaining item is the four foot pads to be glued on the foot rests. and a strap for the hood.
Will get some photos.
Regards,
 Chris

Every bit of it is Good News!
:dancingbanana:

Looking forward to seeing it This weekend.

Folks,

 Couple issues on the Massey.

The gas tank I have has damage in the gas cap thread area. That and that the tank mounted to the engine vibrates the gas tank a lot I have some leakage around the lid. Tried to straighten the lip and add a thin piece of rubber under the lid too.

The other thing is that the battery is either weak or i have a electrical issue as it was about dead after several starting attempts.

Both things I will work on today.

Pulled the mower deck out from under the parts tractor and starting to look it over too.

Hope things are good.

Keep in mind the Pioneer Steam and gas show starting Friday in Sagertown PA Featuring Massey tractors and equipment.

(pictures coming!)

Regards,

 Chris

Chris, try cork.
That's what was in there originally... Make sure there is a 1/4" hole in the center of the cork for the breather.

Yes that seemed to work on sealing the gas cap better.

Secured the battery.

Found I did not have the belt above one of the guides under the tunnel. Fixed that issue.

Replaced lost clip on bottom of hydro arm. Made a clip from a washer.

Changed the oil

greased all the fittings.

Inflated the tires.

Folks should be a good Massey show. We will also have Custom Tractors and Cushman motor scooters featured. Several massey dealers are set up too..

The little Massey seem to be running better than ever!

I have taken some pictures. Will try to post in next few days.,

Folks,

Well we had a lot of fun at the show. Met a lot of nice folks from here and the Friends of Massey club too. Its official I now have a Massey hat!

I like this picture:

Our MF8 and decorated milk cans.

DSC06193.jpg

Looks like my front bummper should be red!

DSC06183.jpg

The little Massey did well. Ran real good. Till I ran it out of fuel  in the parade and then it was a little rough running. Maybe got some dirt in the carb?

Have some things to fix.

HELP! The gas tank has issues and leaked gas on the paint several places. Now have krinkle paint!

I would like to find another tank. This one has problems around the lip of the gas cap and not sure that they can be repaired?

I may fab a gas tank mount to come off the battery box which will reduce the vibrations to the tank.

Also working on the mower deck , clean and paint process.

Regards,

 Chris

Folks,

Got the blower housing off the engine and pulled the fly wheel. Found a piece of tramp metal had damaged the pick ups in a couple places. I went to local shop and picked up a condenser and points and learned how to time the engine, by adjusting the location of the pack bolted to the block. Changing the points was suggested by Alan since I was having some issue with the engine running smooth.

The gas tank has some issues and a call to Rick B and he is sending me another tank. Thanks Rick! Nice when an supplier stands behind his sales items.

Since I had some gas leaks some of the gray will need repainted.

Considering fabing a custom bracket to support the tank from the battery box.

Regards,

 Chris
