The first one is a 1964 Montgomery Ward Squire 7 1/4 made by Springfield. The second is a 1968 Montgomery Ward Squire 12 made by Gilson. The third is a 1966 Montgomery Ward 8HP made Gilson.

Welcome to the forum, I am a serious Springfield collector, and you are the fist person I know, other than myself, that owns a Montgomery Wards Squire 7 1/4. I also have a 1974 Gilson like your 1968, but hate it. I do however own a Gilson like your 1966 one, although repowered. Great collection, please view the article I just posted about Quick MFG (Springfield) for a history lesson.

egward79,
Welcome to GTtalk..
You have a very nice Wards collection, your 68 is very similar to my 69 12hp. My 69 is painted blue and white, have you done any research on paint colors? I also have a 32", I think mower deck like the one you have on the 66, someone made it fit under a W.H.

I have done research on the paint but have not had any luck yet. I talked to one guy and he painted his with an antique bronze that was pretty close but a little dark. I am still looking for something a little closer. I also need some decals if anybody has some ideas. Thanks.

I have only seen one other 7 1/4 on the internet. I was lucky when I got this one because the guy had all the original paperwork with it including a manual. Is yours restored. If so what paint did you use and where did you get the decals?

Mine is not restored, it is in good survivor condition, with exception to the top of the hood, and I was just going to go to auto paint store with the hood and get it color matched and just repaint the top, not mess with the sides or decals. I bought mine off of ebay midyear of last year, is that the one you think you saw on the internet? Mine had one of the fronts totally shreded and the starter generator system is gone.

Welcome to the forum. My ex MIL retired from Wards with sixty-one years of service. Only job she ever had in her life.
