The number off the tag on my 300  reads C300E 062282M  so if im reading this right its a 1976 correct? ant what does the E after 300 mean?

The letter in the code, for your instance "E" also identifies the model year. Here is a list of letters for the Model 300:

 

D = 1975

E = 1976

F = 1977
