does anyone know the lengths of the shaft/outer tube for various CC tractors? Particularly interested in length of 1250 and for a 129. know someone with some parts machines, he's a "puller"...has parts but don't remember what came from what tractor.

According to my memory and the TC-157 parts catalog the 129 and the 1250 use the same steering column tube 548 086-R1 . I've got a couple of both stored in the attic over my garage if you still need a measurement of the tube length . I just got to get up there and bring one down .

thanks. so the tube is available seperately?   How does it fit into the gearbox itself? I'd like to just get a good one and stab in there (Good= "better than what is in there now" not necessarily rebuilt or new)  and then experiment with the one out of my 1250. The 129 doesnt have the issue that the 1250 does. I know of a brand new IH/CC gearbox (NOS) that I can get my hands on cheap, and am seriously looking that direction/ I know how long the column is on this new unit but it seems kinda short for these particular machines I have.

I measured the length of my 149 and 1250 just from the dash not total length and the 1250 is 1" longer @ 3". Might want to consider the length due to the hyro handle change meaning: the handle is closer to the steering wheel and 1" longer allows ease of shifting\steering?

At the moment my 129 isn't here, my 1250 is. I have not had time to mess with either lately. looking for parts I know I'm gonna need so far anyway.  Yes I know there will be "surprises" once I actually get to "dig in".

got a new column coming via Ebay (new to me)  and steering wheel cuz I just "know" mine will be destroyed trying to pull it;

got these from 2 different Ebay auctions, when I went to pay pal to pay for them (couple days apart) I see that I bought both from the same guy using 2 different Ebay usernames.

new column just got here, big difference between it and the one on my machine (condition wise)  Box it came in says it came from a Cub 86..... hmmmm   also got a steering wheel from same guy in case mine self destructs when I go to pull it, that box says off a 149.

hope it all goes together correctly in my 1250....
