I knew Bungartz built tractors but never knew they made a walk behind tiller. This one turned up at the show in Wellington OH last weekend. If I'm reading the engine tag right, it was built in 1952. It has a 4 cycle Universal engine on it. It's gasoline powered. Any info on this out there?

Bungartz assumed the SIEMENS rotary tiller production in 1934. The first series were the F70 and the F90 (F = Fräse). This tiller normally had a DKW engine. I've never heard the name Alfred Berning, Schwelm but here you'll find more about this factory (if you understand german).

edit: the first tractor (T3) was build in 1953.

Doug that sure is a neat walk behind. There is a guy here local that has a couple of the Bungartz tractors. I don't know if he would know some info on the walk behind or not. I will try and make a mental note to ask him next time I see him.

Did it leave with the same owner or did it magically jump on your trailer?

It was in the auction. I didn't buy it or haul it home. It did end up in my drive less than a week later looking for someone to fix it.
