Found this one today on Craigslist today and decided to go after it. It's a CC 1862 with about 900 hours on it. The previous owner said it had a head problem or something else, he got it from a friend. I got it to fire up and to me it sounds like a bad head gasket and possibly a cracked ring or ticking valve.

Can't beat a free deal.  Maybe you'll get lucky and the only problem is a blown head gasket.  Good luck.

I got what's left of the hood. This is going to be a parts tractor no matter what, I just hope the engine is good.
I'd like to harvest all of the power steering components from this and transplant them onto my jd 140

Well, at least you didn't overpay.
Good luck with the engine.

That would be a $200 machine where i live.  except the guy would be asking $450, ad would say "ran when parked" "easy fix get the parts online $20."

Nice score, good luck with the new project

Yep, Free is always good!  I did that with a Scotts a few years ago.  Got it for free, got the parts off it including the engine then sold what was left for $50.
