hi guys i have purchased a 1950 super a with a snowplow and chains$ 1600 was running needed the fluid changed and when i went to start it today the starter wouldn't turn the engine over and  started smoking where is the best place to purchase a new starter would 12 volts thru a 6 volt starter fry it as it as it was converted to 12 volt also need the long arm to run a 3 point as  will be purchasing one soon thanks thad

That starter will be fine on 12 v I would check around and see if there is a place close that can rebuild it.

Usually alot cheaper around here to rebuild rather than buy new.

12v shouldn't hurt the starter at all, I currently have a 12v batt. in my super c with no charging system (was like this when I got it) and it works fine, I plan to change it back to 6v with a 8v batt. eventually.
