Couple of photos of my Oak desk and chair after Kim refinished it.  Glad she likes that kind of work.

Bit of back ground on the desk.  I used to work in grain elevator buying grain for Alberta Wheat Pool.  Western Canada was full of old wooden elevators at one time. In1989 when I started with them they were phasing out the old wooden elevators and trading between grain comapnies.  I worked in Munson Alberta small town just north of Drumheller.  There were 4 elevators there that the Alberta pool operated.  They were all old, Pioneer grain built in 1917 UGG (United Grain Growers)  built in 1916, Federal built in 1921 Wheat pool built in 1932.  In the UGG plant there was this Oak desk and chair.  When we were shutting the elevator down in 1991 I asked if I could take the desk and chair home.  I think this one is kind of neat as it has a asset tag on it.

Solid Oak, drawer sides everything. All dove tail joints.  Weighs a ton.  I think its from 1917 when the UGG elevator was built

We also have a desk like that but didn't manage to get the chair. Great find to get them both. They just don't make furniture like that any more.

Nice job refinishing and a bonus the tag is still attached. Many of our elevators got scuttled here 20 years ago. I got a chair from Canada Malt I think and I helped move a similar desk to yours and can attest to the weight even with the drawers removed it was a tank.
