I talked to a guy that has a retrofit for that ignition, but I think it's beyond my skills.
It's a hh100 motor, from what I gathered, it was only made for one year.
It ran great when I got it, then it wouldn't start. No spark. When I was jumping it I noticed the positive battery cable was hooked to ground and the negative was Hooke to the selenoid. I talked to a repair shop, I think it was jims tractors, online. They said it had to be neg ground, so I changed it around still no spark.
I put many miles on one of these as a kid, working at a campground at the lake, now I found one in great condition that my small kids can enjoy. But I need to get it running.
If anyone can assist in anyway it would greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much.

I'm trying to find someone in the Pittsburgh area that can fix my motor.

The HH100 was made for many years so that's not a true statement. Sears used them for many years in their suburbans Maybe your tractor only used for one year, but many out there.
What year is your tractor?
Pics would help also.
does your say Solids state on the engine? If so, that negative/positive cross probably sent juice into the module and fried it.
If it's a points motor, then it may have fried the condenser or points.
The SSI conversions are actually pretty easy, there are several different ones, but all will run you about $150 no matter what route you take.

If the engine is original it should have points and not the solid state module. That means it can be converted to a battery ignition very easily if the stock coil is actually bad. All you'll need is a battery style coil and condenser, a battery style key switch, and the right style starter solenoid. I did the conversion to my Meteor. It's got good spark but unfortunately isn't running for other reasons.

It wouldn't start, I ran the battery down trying.
When I went to jump it to see if it had spark,
I noticed the battery seemed to be hooked up backwards.
It was running fine with them crossed.
I'm not sure why.
I changed them to what I would think was normal.
Still no spark.
It says solid state ignition on the motor.
There are 3 wires going under the motor cover.
I talked to a guy, I think overnight parts,
He has what I think I need,
I'm trying to find someone local that may be able to install it.
Thanks for your time

It could have been just that your module finally died. I had 2 go out on my within a month, that sucked!
The battery on an SSI tractor is used only for starting and to run lights. Once running, you can remove battery and it's not needed.
Yes, Dale at Overnight Solution is your man for a direct replacement for the module, all other conversions swap it over to a battery-coil system
To bad you weren't closer, we could have it swapped in a couple hours.
