I picked up this little tractor today , its a 656 , the model # T656 and the serial # 255638 , it has no motor but looks to have all its parts , What year is this tractor , I paid $75 for it so did I pay to much , Please help , and yes my wife is ready to kill me for bringing home another tractor656 wheel horse002.jpg 656 wheel horse004.jpg 656 wheel horse005.jpg 656 wheel horse003.jpg

 The model number says it's a 6 horse, electric start, 1966  How could you lose for $75? If you can find a correct engine for cheap, you can thumb your nose at your wife.

That's a really clean horse. Repower it with a brand new briggs. I got a great deal on one at northern tools.

My wife gave up yelling at me she just shakes her head and says yeah I know you are selling the next one.

Ya my wife has been just shaking her head like I am crazy :(  , but its all good as long as they don't sit in the yard , Time to add on to the barn :thumbs:

Is that what the 638 means , 6hp with 38" deck ?

I'm not familiar with a 638, but the mower deck is purchased independently of the tractor. By 1968, WH was using a different designation system. The 656 would be a 606 if it had a recoil start.

The mower decks have there own numbers
Example the one I just got rm367 = Rotary Mower 36" 1967.

638 is the last #s of the serial # , the tractor is a 656

Tried that , it kinda went over like a lead balloon , she wasn't haven any of that , I even tried to tell her we would do this one up and it could be hers to take to the shows , again that lead balloon thing came crashing down , oh well she has put up with me for all these years so I guess I am safe , I hope :biting_nails:
