Hi all here's Maggie my 73 PK out in the sun, getting a tan. I haven't done much to the tractor yet other than some cleaning. However, I did get started on the restore of the mower deck. It came with 2 decks, one in bad shape with good spindles other in good shape with only 2 spindles. As you can see the bad deck has some really BAD welds. I'll post progress. Questions,,, is that seat factory for this m/y. It's like sitting on a cement block. Also, looks like the short block has been replaced. It's gray should be orange.20150917_103638.jpg 20150917_103726.jpg 20150917_103411.jpg 20150917_103344.jpg 20150917_103344.jpg 20150917_103318.jpg 20150917_103553.jpg 20150917_104036.jpg

That rig looks diff in hydraulics under seat. Seat should just mount on U-shaped "spring", which kooks there. AND, that link to rear, for hitch I assume, is also diff than most.

Nice looking tractor !!  I would say that seat is definitely not original.  take your time with the resto, starting on the deck is a good idea get your feet wet before you get serious about it.  that machine looks really nice, original and clean.

Looks pretty nice !    If your going to repair both decks I have some spindles from a newer deck that I'll never use if they will fit . These will also need work

The PK looks good, yea the hyd tank and seat arrangement is not original. You should ba able to make one good deck out of the two.

glgrumpy & GB,, that is that same tank and control valve arrangement we put on my mom's tractor back in 1970. It was an option we installed after buying. That pump is on right side of bell housing, my 73 is under the hood.

Alc thanks for the offer. I think if it is used at all, I might clean up some of the welds and use it to replace my sisters deck body. It's in bad shape. I'm thinking to use her spindles but if I have some no good I'll consider it.

glgrumpy what link to the rear?? The one underneath is for the plow lift, the one on the rear I thought was factory, same as my sisters, I know it's factory. The plow lift might be homemade. It needs work.

GB I'll get pics of sisters install. I was always under the impression this was normal as I've seen only what I had in 1970. My brother and I went to, I beleive, Dubois Pa. to get it. Brought it home on a putruck. I mowed grass for several years before I married and had my own grass. Bro & I installed the pump and tank as per instructions when I realized hand lift was a little much.

Hyd. tank and seat spring are the same as my '73  1614, although my spring comes out the front side.

Yes sir, that's all factory parts I have and had them all. Seems to be a lot like the old Ford farm tractors, What ever came down the line went on them. Very nice tractor by the way. I need a set of the rear weights for mine. I will most likely put the teams from my parts tractor in mine once I find the spacer tubes and shafts.
