Hey everyone, I am new to this forum and also new to lawn tractors.  We just moved and now have more yard than we did before.  I just bought a used John Deere 212 and am looking for a bagger to put on it.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to what will work? I have not checked myself but the guy I bought it from says it has a 40" deck.  However, from my research, it seems that they don't make a 40" deck for the 212, so I am assuming its a 39".  Also, how much does a yard roller help?  The lawn has many bumps in it and I would like to smooth it out as much as possible.  Thanks everyone in advanced!

First off WELCOME to the site, glad to have you. I use a JD 212 with bagger to cut my lawn and really like it. The bagger units for these things are pricey though. I have a 46 inch deck and I also have the power flow unit. If you would like some pictures of what they look like let me know I`ll take some for you. If you have questions just ask I`ll try to answer them.

Deere offered several decks that fit the flat fender 100 and 200 series machines.  The model number on the tag on the deck will help get you in the right direction.  I would expect it to be a Model 39 and to have 3 blades.  IIRC the cut is 38"

I have an Operator's Manual for "Power Flow for 38, 46, and 50-inch Mowers" scanned in as a PDF. I could send it to you if you want it. Might give you some ideas.
