Just bought a b10.The guy I bought it from says it's a 65 model. The serial number is gone. Is there a way to determine the year to verify without the serial number. 20150909_214631.jpg 20150909_215150.jpg FullSizeRender.jpg

Great find! You will soon be in love!

Cant date an AC by serial #, but if the Briggs is original its as close a date as you can get. Your machine is a 64..the only year this look was made. In 65 the model became a Big Ten and had a 10hp Briggs 243341 (4 bolt carb).

Since the tractor has been refinished its possible it simply has an early decal kit and could be a later tractor.

I was wondering if he had the year correct. I also don't know if the engine is original. The guy insisted he had the correct decals on it. He did say that the air cleaner assembly was too tall and previously someone had notched the hood to give it some clearance. Someone could have changed the air cleaner I guess. This guy said he simply shortened the stand pipe on the air cleaner and fixed the hood. He did a nice job of the repair. Just makes me wonder what I have. The carb isn't a 4 bolt. All in all its restored quite nice. Just that some items are not original.

You have a great machine there. They handle well, have alot of attachments available, and are very tough. Download the manuals from our Manuals Section. Check out www.simpletractors.com for the history. Good Luck, Rick

how original it is does not really matter to much as long as you are happy with it.  that looks like a very nice machine and you will be in love with it before you know it.

How original it is will aid in determining the answer to the OPs question though...you cant be unhappy with any AC =)

The 2 piece cultivator is highly desirable and the midmount section is a pretty scarce piece. They offered them this way, and more commonly, as a rear-only cultivator. Its a great find!

Thanks to all for your replies and compliments. Yup I'm pretty happy with it. It will certainly run in next summers parades here locally.
