Kind of reminds me of a funny car.

I thought that too...or a pulling tractor.  It doesn't look very practical.  It looks like it would take a corn field to turn it around!

Kind of reminds me of a funny car.

It does now that you mention it MH. Just need to find a fiberglass go kart race car body to put on it.

My first thought was high centered and stuck every time you try to use it.

Did you ever see one of those cranks that stuck on the shaft after the thing started ? ?   Years ago Dad always made sure the crank and shaft were a loose fit and greased up good so that crank would dis-engage.  That was a short handle crank on a V 4 Wisconsin.

No doubt this was built for a special purpose.  I figure the outriggers held boxes or whatever needed for the particular crop it was built for tending.  It might look crazy, but whatever it was built to do, I bet it made life easier for that person.
