When I'm done with a vehicle, it usually goes scrap. I strip out anything that I think I might have a use for down the road . . . like heater/defroster controls and the cables that go with them.

 

They've come in handy a few times over the decades.

 

But I'm definitely going to keep in mind the excellent suggestion of using the MIG wire! :thumbs:

Thanks for the idea, I have a cub 70 that needs a choke cable and I have lots of 0.35 wire,  :thumbs:

Very good idea! It is a real treat to come up with a clever way to fix something in an unconventional way. Makes you feel like the cat that ate the canary! Thanks for the tip. I'll always have that in the back of my mind now. Maybe this can become a running thread on all sorts of unconventional repairs.....
