For about one year I have been looking for a decent 1000, I did not care if it ran or not but I wanted something that was complete and as original as possible, finally craigslist paid off - I just came back from a 1400 mile roadtrip from michigan.

The tractor is in really good condition and has a hydraulic lift! It is all original other than someone painting the frame/engine/tranny red, it even still has the original seat. The engine runs smooth and does not smoke at all, I'm quite happy about that.

I also collected a sleeve hitch, front plow, chains, the rare fmc wheel weights and a mower deck which is also in really good condition.

Since I was driving so far I wanted to make the most of it and load up my 5x10 trailer as much as possible and picked up a nice 850 on the return trip near syracuse, the seller had a really poor description of his 850 and poor pictures but I'm glad I stopped. This has to be the cleanest 850 I have seen in original condition! This tractor has seen very little use and is very tight.
The seller mentioned he also included had a plow which he never used, well to my surprise it was a NOS plow! The mower deck has seen very little use. This tractor has been basically abandoned in a garage all its life, the seller said he bought it at an auction 15 years ago and it has not started since.

Paid 300 for ,the 1000 and 225 for the 850. The 850 also came with a box of spares such as a new looking PTO (with as new bolens belt), driveshaft, etc..

Nice 1000, Congrats on the purchase!

Seat and fenders have been replaced though from a 1050 most likely

Steering wheel cap is a nice bonus! Normally those are long gone

Whats the serial number on the 1000?

Looks like a nice Haul.

I wouldn't say the fmc wheel weights are rare.  My .02c

The serial number sticker is in poor shape but it seems to read 1960 if this makes sense.
I'm disappointed its not the orig seat/pan though. They look so similar.
I made sure I took that steering cap off before I hit the road, the 850 also has the orig steering cap!

What I meant to say is the wheel weights are labelled fmc and not bolens, I have never seen fmc labelled ones before but you could be right and they may not be rare.

The FMC weights are later in production and were available up until the late 80's I believe, there's lots of them here in the US from what I have seen.

The original fenders were fiberglass , only used on the husky 900&1000 , The seat was real special and only found on the 1000, they are nearly impossible to find intact now a days, I'm still trying to find one for mine

You made out well on that trip! Nice haul. I don't suppose the wheel weights are for sale?

Nice Haul. I love them 1000's. I drove 6hrs to get mine near lima ohio a few years ago. I have the proper fiberglass fender pan, but I think my seat is wrong too. What does the right seat look like?? Anyone have a picture?? My uncle has a 1000 and I wondering if his is the original or not.

If you download this brochure: http://gardentractor...form-no-551542/

you can see and compare the seats used on the Bolens 900 and 1000 tractors.

Although the brochure was printed in 1964, it is actually showing the Bolens tractors for the 1965 model year.  .....The 900 was produced in 1964 & 1965.  ...The 1000 was produced in 1965 only.

Both tractors used the same fiberglass fender, with molded-in toolbox.  ...However, the 1000 seat had a backrest as shown in the brochure.
