Yes the 316K replaced the 300. The reason is that in 1978 Deere introduced the 312 which is a striped down version of the 300. The 312 had a 12hp Kohler, single hydralic lever, optional front hydralic port, no engine side shields, etc. So they didn't want the consumers to think that the 312 was a bigger tractor than the 300 so they rebadged it to the 316. Granted the 300 and the 316K are the same tractor there are alot of parts that are not interchangable.

Hey, DH1, you seem to be missing a few seats. Are those all 316s or just all 300 series?

Cool. There must be a fair number of those in your area. Not many come up for sale here.

I didn't see a response to what attachments fit the closed frame tractors so I thought I'd fill in the blanks. The 49 snowblower, 54 front blade (2 or 4 way), 54c center blade, 3 point hitch, 33 tiller (need rear PTO too), sleeve hitch (witch then accepts all kinds of attachments of it's own), and the 41 and 48 mower decks. I believe you can make another mower deck work too, but I can't remember the model number. There is also a whole bunch of other allied and JD attachments, but these are the most common ones.
