speaking of swapping parts between Cub models/series, would a steering wheel that claims to fit a 782, 1811,1210 fit a 1250?

Yes I have...the spline was the same for me...as a matter of fact the up grades IH did on the quietline was the steering wheel, same as the 82 series.

huh, I am watchin one on Feebay  and it is claimed to fit 782 (not listing any other "82" in the ad, but does say1210, 15XX, and 18XX that it would fit)  Looks a bit taller in the picture (maybe just the angle it is taken from?) than my 1250 one is.
Selelr replied that yeah it would fit but that he has the "right one" for my 1250. Wondering what the difference may be?

On my tablet at work but here is the early style for 1X8/9 and quietline...I'll see what pics I have of the 82 series when I get home

Most of them had the same splines.  I have a steering wheel from an 82 series on my 100.

OK got home and took a pic of the steering wheels...one on the left is from a 1810. But will fit a quietline early or late production. Triangle center would sport the IH logo if late quietline to early or red 82 series. One on the right was removed from a early production 1250. Hope this can help. Also I see no difference in height from spline to wheel.

And probably ones from a lot of others as well.  Those Ross boxes were used on quite a lot of garden tractors.

FYI I bought a nice four spoke Quietline wheel for my 149 (which has the wheel on the right in BNK's pic) and it doesn't fit. The splined hole is much too small. If anyone needs a really nice wheel for their Quietline let me know!

I would like to see the 4 spoke wheel in question as I can not recall ever seeing an IH built cub cadet with a 4 spoke steering wheel.  They were all variations of a 3 spoke wheel that I have ever seen.

I was thinking the same thing, though I have heard of an "early"/"late" style on Quietlines. Thought his might just be opposite what mine is...

The early style was like the previous series such as a 108. The later style was the same as the 82 series.

I agree that there were no 3 spoke wheels pre 81 but they used them on quite a few after that.
Do a Yahoo search for "cub cadet steering wheel", click "images", 3rd row down, second from the left. Apparently they were used on 1110,1225,1320,1420,etc. There was another 4 spoke wheel used on 1440,1641,1535,1541,1863 etc. But flatter and with wider split spokes.

Luckily for me the original 149 wheel has grown on me so I'm just gonna keep it on there.
