Hello

Been lurking here for a while, big fan of the Fords and Jacs.  Found a Ford 140 on Craigslist near me for $375OBO  Complete tractor with a 42" aluminum deck and snowblade running machine with working electric lift and pto.  Motor uses oil. It all looks ok, needs painted.   Thoughts on price?  Are parts available for the electric lift and pto?  I have a restored Ford 80 nothing electric.  Thanks for any info!

Jeff from eastern Ohio

:welcometogttalk:  Welcome Jeff.  Any :camera: ?

I passed on one a year ago for the same money; no plow. Wish I didn't.

How much oil does it use, is it smoking, any noises.

The electric pto's are getting hard to find but show up sometimes.  I've heard one from an old Deere may fit but never tried it.

It might be possible to put a mechanical pto on it if the electric one goes out.

Electric lift is pretty nice, the dozer plow and alu deck are good and pretty heavy, but easy to change out, good luck

Here are a couple more,  uses 1/5 quart of oil for every 2hrs of use  smokes on startup.  I'm new at posting pics so forgive me if my format is goofy!

sounds like it may soon need new rings eventually but personally sounds good for now. I dropped $100 on a plow like that one the other month. Also beginning of the year i got a jacobsen 1450 that needs some work for $50 with deck.its rough cosmetically tho. the ford you're looking at $350 cash in hand when ya go see the seller ought to buy it

One thing to try before 'new rings'! Get some Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO) and add at a 1:5 ratio. Put some in the gas also. It may have stuck rings!

Bought the whole package and hauled it home, not familiar with the electric options but all seems to work ok for now.  Just need to find a good part source for some odds and ends, I used to buy parts from a gentleman in Massachusetts by the name of Charlie Dickie.  Had 75+ Ford and Jac tractors and even made some body pieces, anyone heard of him or know if he's still around?

Congrats on getting the tractor and Welcome.

I prefer my GT's to wear their working clothes.  They all work in my collection, or they don't run...............

I hope you get yours the way you want it.  Watch the oil carefully.  That's a lot of consumption.  Try Kenny's suggestion of MMO.  You don't have much to lose.
