Got this today from a guy at work. He gave it to me because he was moving and didn't want to mess with it. Gave him a 12 pack of beer, true story lol. I believe it's a 1972 but doesn't look like it has tilt steering to me? He says it has a short in wiring somewhere but it runs. 48 inch deck and no attachments. Has headlights. What would this model sell for as is? Not for sale, just want a ballpark figure.
Thanks

How much is a 12 pack of beer these days? I thought I did great when I got a New Holland S-14 for $50 delivered earlier today. So ya, it's worth at least $50. The guy I bought mine from said he paid $500 for it a few years ago.
PS: My New Holland is way uglier than yours lol.

Lol why thanks! I thought mine was quite ugly though. I'm thinking I could get $500? What years were the tilt steering models?

I thought they were 100% gold, but not sure, mine is not in original paint anymore. So far it runs but I have not been able to drive it (frozen control shaft). I like it, hope it all works when I reassemble it.

The tilt is much less common. Only ever seen one that I know of and it's being rebuilt.
The tilt was a flawed system from the get go. I believe the words he used to describe it was "hopelessly over engineered"

Cool that you got one with the steering, be a little careful with it as parts are non existent from what I understand

Now to go look at Casey's

Your hood should be the color of the fender pan, not JD green. The mower deck should be that same color. The wheels should be a yellow color that is slightly paler than JD yellow.

same tractor as the Ariens GT or S series/ Where are you guys finding these? I cannot even find a hood for mine for less than $100 with shipping. My Ariens looks identical except for being orange instead. It is parked in a friend's barn, forgotten about til I get caught up on other things around here. I do look for needed parts for it any chance I get but am currently aggravated with what I am finding, cost wise. (and I aint been buying what I am finding, at present)

In simple words, when you build up a reputation for buying old equipment (or parts) the deals begin to come to you.
