I found this 3HP briggs on Craigslist a couple years ago. I believe it was manufactured in 1976. It was still new the in box. I removed the gas tank and replaced the recoil start with a rope pulley so the hood fits on and makes it more old school too. This video is actually the second time I started it. The first start just required a little gas in the carb. and 3 pulls of the rope.

Nice ! Wasnt some of the hooded tractors offered with recoil starters ? Maybe different hoods ?

That is a nice machine. nice tires,nice paint. It screams for an original engine

Yes, some later models had recoil. The hood opening was a about 1" larger.

That would be nice, but this one has to earn its keep too. This is a 5756 which came with a Continental which is pricey when available. This Briggs was a good price and easy to find parts for. I did have a 5 hp Tecumseh on it.
