It looks a lot like an early Eclipse Tornado sicklebar mower from the 1950's.

Have you found any nameplates on the engine or mower?

I have some info on Eclipse sickle mowers, but nothing on a Hahn unit.

I haven't looked anywhere on it but the obvious areas so far, and even on the name brand I'm only going on what I was told so not sure on that either. I'm trying to get a handle on what is really is. Thanks. Tom

A briggs for sure and maybe a 5. Didn't the S stand for suction carb? This wouldn't qualify there. The engine tag would be a brass tag on the side of the shroud or an aluminum tag on an air shield around the back of the cylinder.

The Eclipse Tornado would have pre-dated the purchase of the Eclipse Mower Company by Lloyd & Jack Hahn.

The Eclipse Mower Company was located in Prophetstown, Illinois.  .....After the Hahns purchased the company, the mower production was moved to Evansville, Indiana.

I'll look through my manuals for info on the Tornado.

The engine looks to be a B&S 5S or 6S.

That engine is a Clinton. The oil fill gives it away. the carb isn't right on it.

I don't think so. His first picture shows the base and it looks like a Briggs base with the oil fill down low. A view of the other side would show it. His shroud has the two straps at the top to the head where yours has the full head cover. Does yours have the 2 straps under that cover? I don't think Clinton's did.

OK, I found some info about your sickle mower.

Yours is an  Eclipse 36"  Tornado 700 Sickle Mower.  ...It is either a Series 1501 or 1502.   ....The 1501 series was a 1947 model, while the 1502 series was a 1948 model.   ...The engine was a B&S Model N with Type number 306168.

The key to identifying your Tornado as a "700" is that is the only model to use the "faceted" tin shield.  ...Earlier & later Tornados had rounded sheetmetal, not faceted.

The Tornados were built from 1941 through 1955.  .....1941-1951 had B&S model N's.  ....1952-1955 had B&S model 6 engines.

Here is a link to all of the info I have for Eclipse Tornado Sickle Mowers:

If you look at the left side plate (the large casting behind the wheel) of the sickle mower there should be either "SM1" or "SG1" cast into the side plate.

SM1 indicates 1941-1946 production.    .....SG1 indicates 1947-1955 production.

Parts lists for all Tornado models can be found here:
