So I am getting a New Holland garden tractor of some description. Only details I was told is that it has a shaft drive mower deck that needs work, and it runs (may be Kohler?). So what am I getting? Is it worth his asking price of $50? Is it still worth it after he delivers it free? Lol (Sunday) I refuse to argue, but will say it was the same guy I first sold the Case 222 to.

It's one of the old GT's, the newer ones are belt driven decks. It's essentially an Ariens GT. New Holland designed them and sold them a few years, then Ariens bought the line from New Holland.

And it will be nothing but a headache from the word go. Have him unload it straight onto a pallet on your trailer, and take it to Fastenal on Monday. Have it sent to the Anoka, Mn store.

I know Cats calling first dibs, but with the astronomical shipping prices to the far frozen north.... 💰Pennsylvania shipping would be very affordable.😉

I think I just peed myself a little bit. Like Casey would give up a GT? Ha! He even buys back the ones it takes 6 months to convince himself to sell!

I've never met Casey personally, but I'm betting he was a bugger to play trains or matchbox cars with when he was a kid.

What do you mean "When I was a kid...", I still have all of them. :D

By the way, I hope Ben reads this, as he has another trip to make to buy the rest of the tractors he bought... Lol. Ben was the second person I sold the Case 222 to. If you recall the last guy that bought it blew the head gasket (which is why I didn't buy his New Holland in the past, but the price came down since then).

I was skeptical of this tractor (still am) since the seller was the first buyer of the Case 222 and I know he is a non mechanic... Needless to say after I pay the 50 dollars and he leaves... I will be putting wrenches on critical bolts...

It's like I told Mom earlier (she gave the guy my number lol), even if it is total junk, there is at least $50 worth of parts... But it is a whole tractor that runs, so might put it to work, even though I have no roof to put it under... Ben!! Lol

Not 100% sure but some of those tractors have the Dana rear end with a sundstrand 15 hydro. Very strong combination. Definitely worth the 50$.

Model S-14 Hydrostatic. New battery it kicked off and ran for a minute on old gas. I will need help though. The hydro "park-start" does not stay in position, so it has been bypassed and the brake pedal does nothing. The hydro release works though. Might see if I can drive it over to the other side of the shop. I was told reverse is quite slow.

Well, it runs very strong, but the cam shaft is frozen currently... So it won't go anywhere now, and I am soaking it now with the lever off.
Have not seen the hydraulic lft work yet, but hope to get it working soon. Going to check hydro fluid level for that. As for the brake pedal, I understand it well enough to know it just overrides, no stopping. If I can get this New Holland to operate I may put the loader on it... It's heavy enough and has the ability for three point. (I need the rear rockshaft)
