i have not been on the forum at all recently restoring my cub cadet original and work has been taking all my time.  But today I picked up a 1973 cub cadet 149 today for 50 dollars. its in decent shape except for the fender pan which is rusty,  hadn't run in 5 plus years, picked it up today put a new condenser in it and cleaned the points and it fired right up on the old gas. it runs great but smoked a lot at first but seems to be slowing down since i put a lot of chem tool in the fuel.  guy i bought it from said he parked it because it burned a quart of oil every time he mowed his grass, going to try a piston soak to see if the rings are just covered in carbon. but all in all i am happy with my buy.

That was not a bad $50 investment.

Any progress pictures on the Original?
