Newbie needs trans-axle  information. I purchased a JACOBSEN CHIEF1000 ,SN 53039, ITEM  2198,

YEAR  1967.Looking it up on the tractor data base it states that it has a peerless 2300 trans-axle. Trying to shift into reverse, it shears the roll pin in shifter rod. Looks like something inside. Before taking it apart for inspection and buying a repair kit, anyone have any ideas what may be wrong in there. This is my first post and hope i have it in the proper place. Cant figure out why i cant enter subject in subject space.

Thanks  JB

Welcome to the forum. We have a good following of Jacobsen guys here. I'm sure one will be along to help you. The reason you couldn't change the subject was because you were replying to a post instead of starting a new topic. The manuals section will probably have a manual for your tractor. You are allowed 3 downloads a day. There are also tutorials for helping figure out the forum.

 Welcome to the forum, JB! I think this manual may help you. The 2300 starts on page 59. Pics of your tractor would be nice to see. Check out the link in my signature for a video on uploading them.

Big thanks for  all the replies. I think i solved my problem. I replaced the broken roll pin in the shifter and thought i had sheared another one. When i opened it up again i found the (e ring, clip ring or whatever) had slipped out of place. I probably did not do a good job of installing the broken roll pin. This with a little clutch adjustment did the trick.

I will post pictures soon.
