I posted up my Honda recon on craigslist to roll it off to buy other toys. My ad stated no trades. Price is negotiable but I'm not giving it away I don't need to sell it.

2500 its in beautiful shape. Clean. Never rolled or crashed. Mainly cruised gravel roads. It's my wife's bike so she never thrashed on it.

Anyway. So far in 12 hours I've been offered a 1988 s10 4x4 with no title. A non running cr250 dirt bike that needs rebuilt and one guy told me it wasn't worth a penny more than 1200 and he'd bring cash right now. I told him to bring double that and we'd talk

I hear ya man. Same story every time I try to sell something no matter where it is either paper or CL.

Everyone thinks that they are going to do what they see on TV: unload trash and get treasures because there are so many suckers out there.  The other problem is many people can't seem to be able to read. They don't understand that what they do read applies to them.

Don't let the idiots get to you. Good Luck, Rick

Alright alright if you wont take $1200 I suppose I can scratch together another $50 to make the deal :D.  don't let those idiots bother you just keep at it and you will sell it.  I held out for 2 months on my cadillacs before I got someone who knew what they were looking at and weren't full of BS

A lot of those people are just  hecklers, trying to get you stirred up.  And it sounds like they may have succeeded.  You can't blame CL for what the hecklers do.  If they make offers contrary to what is in the ad, don't even bother to answer them as that is what they want.  Clearly state your asking price and stick to it.  When you say the price is negotiable, it opens the door to any and all offers.  I suggest you never mention that in the ad.  You can always negotiate if an honest buyer shows up.  Keep the ad renewed every 10 days or so and it will sell.  May take a while but it will sell.

They have definitely succeeded in getting me angry...you are right can't blame craigslist but as someone else's thread about sellers and buyers no one is good to their word or honor. I guess I expect the respect that I give people in return.

Another call wanting to trade a glock pistol worth maybe 600 bucks even up. I laughed and hung up. Maybe I'll take my number off and just leave email

I saw an ad once, for sale 2500, if you want to negotiate, the price is 3000 and I'll take 2500. I got a laugh out of that one. Noel

Never put your phone number in the ad. You will get all kinds of sales calls.

Take that ad down completely. Put up a new ad that says no trades and $2700. Make them use email through CL. Good Luck, Rick

I completely stopped using Craigslist. I never before met so many idiots or wacky people. It's not worth your time or safety.

I think with some cl sellers if they get too many responses they think their crap is worth more than posted price and they take down their ad only to repost a week later with a higher price. In that case they can keep it and I'll keep flaging them
