Not decided yet on a date, and not even sure I can pull one off this year.  I figure I can do one, but I have the land rented out and in soybeans, planted late.  The renter talked like they will be out easy by middle of October, but we have a family wedding on October 24th, so that date is out.  The next Saturday is Halloween Saturday, and I'm not sure how many would want to be trick or treating with their kids.  Usually the 1st weekend of November is a plow day in New Harmony, IN, which I'd rather not have on the same date as some I know go to that plow day.  All in the breeze right now.  If for some reason I don't have a Fall plow day, rain, health, whatever....then I'll shoot for a Spring plow day.  I'll know soon.

Please give feedback about Friday & Saturday, October 30th & 31st.

In a way, I'd rather wait till spring for a plow day, as then I'd not have to plant a cover crop, saving money & labor.  Plus life has been a little tough since just after last year's plow day. But then I've seen how much fun everyone has, and waiting seems wrong.  I also worry we could have another wet spring like last year and we'd have no chance at all for a plow day.

So give your feedback on all I've said.  I have a feeling if I pass on a fall plow day that I'll regret it.

Daniel, I can't make the fall plow day , but will be there for the spring day for sure as I  will be all healed up by then. If you need to have one this fall, then that's what you should do. Lots for folks sure look forward to your plow day and I would hate for them to miss out on it.

Quite honestly, I was getting my wife prepped for me taking a couple day trip down for this next one, and spring would normally be best for me...'cept I found out this week baby #3 is due mid-April.  Got the feeling my chances for a couple daddy-days-away will be over after this fall (at least for a while).  But, my vote would still be spring over Halloween.  How far are ya from the nearest hospital?

Whenever you can have a plowday is fine by me.

If I can get there I'll be there.

Daniel, It is very generous of you to host plow days. It sounds like it would be a burden for you to host it this fall. Let it go until spring. Save your money and have one less worry while getting prepared for winter. Good Luck, Rick

This is one time I would say;  "Put yourself first."  If it works out, and you want to, and can,  then do it.  But put your welfare first.  We'll all understand whatever your decision is.

That said I am looking forward to attending my first plow day somewhere.

What's the info on New Harmony?  I've been there, and stayed at the state park but only as a tourist.      Rick

Contact member "Grumpy".  Chuck can give you more info, but I don't think they've locked in a date yet.  You can see his profile HERE to send him a PM.

Much as I hate to disappoint anyone, I have decided to postpone my plow day till spring 2016.  Just been through so many physical & mental stresses that I'm not up to speed to have an event just yet.  Likely it will be in mid to late April, but weather will play it's part.

I hope you guys that come will understand.  I've had energy to do what has to be done, but then nothing much left to have fun.  I truly enjoy hosting plow day, and I will continue to have them, but may switch to spring from here on out as I won't have to seed a cover crop, so it will save money, time, and labor.  Again, I hope you understand and will come plow Ky soil this spring.

Again, I hope you understand and will come plow Ky soil this spring.

Can't imagine anyone who knows what you've been through in the last year being unhappy with your decision. I for one am relieved and happy to hear that your going to give yourself some more time before taking on the event.

I think I've said this before, but here it is again:

Family first.

And since this a slightly different situation from where I normally use that phrase, I'll throw the following in for good measure:

Ya know, you're not exactly a spring chicken anymore. Ya may try not running around like one.

I too am glad to hear you are going to wait til spring to give you more time to heal up. Maybe I can make that one since spring isn't as busy for us for the high school band.
